Neuronox® Botulinum Toxin
Neuronox is a brand favored by Korean star Son Ye-jin. Made from an American bacterial strain and refined through high-purity extraction, it works by inhibiting nerve signal transmission, relaxing overactive muscles, effectively improving frown lines and dynamic wrinkles, restoring smooth and refined skin, and preventing new wrinkles from forming. Developed and launched in 2006 by the biotech giant Medytox, it was Korea's first marketed botulinum toxin. It is exported to over 60 countries and is Korea's number-one botulinum toxin export brand. It now officially enters Taiwan under the name "Miracle Botox / Miracle-Skin Botox," becoming a rising star in the aesthetic medicine market.
What is Botulinum Toxin?
- Botulinum Toxin is a protein secreted and purified from Clostridium botulinum (Clostridium Botulinum) during its reproduction, first discovered by Dr. Ermergem in 1897. According to antigenic differences, botulinum toxin is classified into seven serotypes, A through G, of which Type A is the most widely used in medical and aesthetic medicine fields due to its high safety and stability.
- Botulinum toxin is a neurotransmission modulator that temporarily inhibits the release of acetylcholine from nerve endings, reducing excessive muscle contraction and relaxing specific muscles. This property was originally applied to medical treatments such as strabismus and muscle spasms. As clinical research has advanced, its effectiveness in improving dynamic wrinkles, preventing fine line formation, and refining facial contours has gradually been confirmed, making it one of the most popular minimally invasive aesthetic treatments worldwide today.

Botulinum Toxin Frequently Asked Questions
Q1 Where can botulinum toxin be injected?
Mainly used to relax muscles. Common areas include:
- Facial dynamic wrinkles: crow's feet, forehead lines
- Facial sculpting: masseter slimming, jawline lifting
- Body lines: calf muscle slimming
- Hyperhidrosis treatment
Q2 Will muscle weakness occur after injection?
If the dosage is too high or the placement imprecise, you may temporarily feel muscle weakness, but it usually recovers as the effect wears off, leaving no aftereffects. Choosing a qualified professional physician reduces the risk.
Q3 Is botulinum toxin price related to effectiveness?
You get what you pay for. Botulinum treatments priced too low may use insufficient dosage or have unclear product sources. We recommend choosing a safe, reliable brand and physician, and not risking safety for a small price difference.
Q4 How much dosage do I need?
It varies by area and improvement needs:
- Expression lines: 8–16U per area
- Face slimming / jawline: 30–60U
- Calf muscle: 160–200U
- Hyperhidrosis: 50–100U per area
The above is for reference only; the actual dosage must be determined by a physician's evaluation.
Q5 How long does the botulinum effect last?
Generally 4–6 months, related to metabolic rate, frequency of muscle use, lifestyle, stress, etc.
- Dynamic wrinkles: effect felt in 1–2 weeks, full effect about 1–2 months
- Facial lifting / masseter: muscle softening felt in about 3–4 weeks, full effect 1–2 months
- Calf muscle: muscle softening in about 1–2 months, full effect 1–3 months
- Hyperhidrosis: reduced sweating felt in about 3 weeks, full effect 1–2 months
Q6 Will botulinum injection make expressions stiff?
With professional physician evaluation and precise injection, natural expressions can usually be maintained. The first injection may require adjusting to the change in muscle strength, but will not be overly stiff.
Q7 How often do I need an injection?
One injection every 4–6 months is recommended; if you wish to maintain optimal condition, you can repeat the injection before the effect wears off, but this depends on individual constitution and needs.
Q8 Will wrinkles get worse after stopping injections?
No. After the effect wears off, the muscles resume their original activity, and wrinkles return to their pre-injection state, but will not be worse than before. Continued injection can delay wrinkle formation and the deepening of muscle lines.
Q9 How can I make the effect last longer?
Following physician advice, repeating injection before the effect wears off can accumulate effects, making wrinkle improvement longer-lasting.
Q10 What treatments can botulinum toxin be combined with?
Facial: picosecond laser, ultrasound lifting, thread lifting, hyaluronic acid, or Ellanse filling.
